Ripple Fish Company is a fictional seafood restaurant that prides itself in offering a unique dining experience that combines upscale ambiance with a family-friendly atmosphere. With the ocean as their muse, they celebrate the diverse palette of flavors the sea has to offer. The project goal was to create a cohesive and recognizable brand identity that accurately represents the restaurant's values and personality. The visual system was based on the colors and motion of the sea, drawing inspiration from the word "ripple" in the brand’s name. The resulting design is elegant yet approachable and playful enough to welcome families from all over.
The central theme of Ripple Fish Company is the ocean, with its unique and enigmatic nature, and its diverse range of flavors. To embody this concept, I aimed to integrate it with the brand's inherent sophistication, creating a motif of motion throughout the entire branding system.
I drew inspiration from the ocean's constant movement, with its waves, ripples, swirls, and currents. The brand mascot, an octopus, was chosen due to its fluid, organic movements of its tentacles. By combining these concepts, the identity is founded on the principles of the ocean's perpetual motion. The branding features an array of illustrations with rough edges, tentacle-like spirals, and ripples that avoid looking straight or rigid, and rather emulate this sense of slow motion.
